Why Xander Press
Xander Press began because authors would not take no for an answer. For years, men brought their manuscripts to Bold Story Press, and many of them were very good: memoirs, novels and books of hard-won expertise. They wanted what our women authors had, a small, selective press where a book gets real editorial attention and is neither hurried into print nor left waiting at the gates of the large houses. We kept saying we published only women. Then we said yes.
Xander publishes books by men and by co-authors of any mix, with the same care that built Bold Story Press. Every book is edited by experienced editors, professionally designed and properly distributed, under a publisher with forty years in the business. Authors keep their rights and a fair share of the rewards. We publish fewer books so that we can publish each one well, and we treat every manuscript as if it were the only one on our desk.
Meet Emily Barrosse
Founder and Publisher of Bold Story Press and Xander Press
Emily Barrosse is the founder and publisher of both Xander Press and Bold Story Press. She spent the first thirty-two years of her career in traditional publishing, where as Vice President and Editor in Chief at McGraw Hill she signed and published hundreds of best-selling books.
In August 2020, Emily founded Bold Story Press, a hybrid publisher dedicated to amplifying women’s voices and helping women publish exceptional books. As Bold Story Press grew, outstanding manuscripts began arriving from authors outside its women-only publishing mission. Rather than turning those writers away, Emily created Xander Press.
